Software Bonkers (craigmod.com)
We’re still in the dorks-only phase of model-assisted programming, but I can imagine soon-to-arrive interfaces where you just drag and drop components while narrating your desires with your voice, the models able to perform the “brainstorming,” “planning,” and “work” — operations that can take ten minutes or longer today — in mere seconds tomorrow.
What’s the Home Depot equivalent of DIY software? I want to walk the aisles and dream up stupid ideas of how to join random components to solve narrow problems. I want to know what it exists to solve problems I’ve never had, so I won’t be phased by them when they show up in the future. I don’t want to acquire that knowledge on demand in seconds. I want it marinating in my subconscious.
