Weeknotes 2025—8
Monday was Presidents’ Day. The kids had no school, but I still had work. Our house became the spot where all the kids without school came to hang. It was loud, but I have a door that closes, and noise cancelling headphones. Everyone left by the time I emerged from my office. We took a family trip to the library to find some quiet.
Tuesday was the final basketball practice of the season. I didn’t make it out there because I was heads down on filing taxes. They’re filed and accepted.
Wednesday was climbing gym day. We went out earlier than usual because the school system took an NTI day. The kids had fun, and the oldest is getting more confident on boulders. The youngest got stuck and received a rescue. Everyone got Gatorade.
Thursday was a night of nothing, and we kept it that way on purpose.
Friday was E’s end-of-season basketball tournament. They lost in the first round, and the boys took it hard. We ate dinner from Chick-fil-a, and continued our Star Wars movie marathon with a viewing of The Last Jedi.
Saturday was sleep in day. No basketball game made for a low key day. I walked on an inclined treadmill for an hour and read a small management book from cover to cover. I unclogged our bathroom sinks and have been riding the high of getting a broken thing fixed all weekend. We watched the Rise of Skywalker, concluding our two month journey through the entirety of the nine episodes of the Skywalker saga. The kids thought the latest three movies were the best, and I agree with them.
I slept in again on Sunday. Church wasn’t canceled because of snow this week so we made it out there. My afternoon was active. I filled an entire trash can with yard debris, and went on my first run in months. My 23rd strait day in the sauna has me feeling good.
Emily, E, and I played The Game. It was E’s first time, and we won! Same as our first Fortnite duos victory, I had to explain to him that winning this on the first try is unprecedented.
Stand up comedy is getting our TV time. Mulaney and Bargatze this week. Both joke of addiction, one to cocaine and the other to Taco Bell.
